Friends of Morland

The Friends of Morland Choristers Camp is an association of past and present Camp members, families and supporters. The Friends provide valuable support, through identifying potential members of Camp and by raising money for scholarships or to meet other needs. They meet at intervals to sing Evensong in a Cathedral or parish church, and some members come to Morland for the last weekend of Camp and sing at the Friends of Morland evensong in Carlisle Cathedral on the Saturday afternoon. Additional supporters are always welcome. For more information, please see the Camp’s Facebook page or contact Imogen Poliszczuk (FoM@morland.org.uk).

Founder’s Day

To mark the Canon’s 100th birthday, and the 40th Camp, two celebratory events were held in 2010: Choral Evensong at Winchester College (where Canon Markham was educated) on Saturday October 30th and at Morland Parish Church on Sunday November 7th (the actual date of the Canon’s 100th birthday). Both services were preceded by a celebration tea including 100th Birthday cake.

The celebration in Morland is now an annual event “Founder’s Day”, on a Saturday close to the Canon’s birthday.

Information about the Canon’s memoirs, ‘Something Good to Say‘, is available here. Photographs of the Canon, and of the Camp, are available here.
